Morocco Gaming Expo 2026 is set to reach a new milestone by welcoming, during its third edition taking place from May 20 to May 24, 2026, an internationally renowned figure as Guest of Honor; Erin Roberts, a veteran game developer with over 35 years of industry experience spanning iconic franchises and groundbreaking studios. His career began at Origin Systems in the early 1990s, where he designed and produced games in the legendary Wing Commander franchise. Following Electronic Arts‘ acquisition, he continued as Producer and Game Director, working on the SciFi Privateer series.
In 1996, Erin co-founded Digital Anvil in Austin, Texas, which was later acquired by Microsoft, where he managed projects for the Xbox Games group. Returning to the UK in 2005, he founded and directed AAA game development studios for over two decades, notably creating the highly successful Lego games for Traveller’s Tales and Warner Bros.
For the past 13 years, Erin has served as Chief Development Officer at Cloud Imperium Games, where he established the UK studio and led its expansion to over 600 employees. He currently oversees development across CIG’s four global studios, managing a team of more than 800 developers worldwide and leading production on the ambitious Star Citizen and Squadron 42 projects.
As part of the strategic partnership agreement between the Kingdom of Morocco and the French Republic in the field of Gaming Industry, the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication has officially launched the second edition of the “Video Game Creator” training program.
The launch ceremony took place at the Higher Institute of Audiovisual and Cinema Professions (ISMAC) in Rabat, in the presence of institutional partners and the young talents selected for the program.
The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication launched, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, the call for application for the second edition of the “Video Game Incubator” program, in partnership with the Embassy of France in Morocco and the « Institut Français du Maroc ».
This incubation program is intended for video game development studios, whether in the process of being created or already active, as well as entrepreneurs holding self-employed entrepreneurs status who are project leaders with ambitious initiatives in the gaming industry.
Participants in the second edition will benefit from tailored support through a specialized program supervised by international experts, including training modules adapted to technical and entrepreneurial needs, access to a strategic network bringing together key players in the industry, as well as participation in major gaming industry events.

This initiative forms part of the implementation of the intergovernmental declaration of intent signed between Morocco and France, under the presidency of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, and the President of the French Republic, Mr. Emmanuel Macron, relating to the support and structuring of the cultural and creative video game industry ecosystem in Morocco.
